I think this article does a great job in explaining how our humor has changed over years. It references how cats run the internet now. The author says this to show what modern humor is like. People like one-laugh posts of a cat wearing a sweatshirt, a meme, and many others. The author points out that people like these posts because they are easy to relate to, and they're easily accessible. As a result of this kind of humor becoming more prevalent, stand-up humor has declined.
